A desperate request from a distressed mother who has two teenage boys with special needs has praised the support she received from the Community Heating Project here in Fife . Local gas engineers and central heating business RGM Heating Ltd in partnership with the the team over at Cosy Kingdom stepped in to bring much needed relief to the part-time working mum who was on low income.
Kitchen Bathroom Sink and Shower Repairs
When asked what the mothers issues were, her exact response was the following:
“The house needs a lot of work done to it, none of which I can afford, things keep breaking and it really is getting on top of us all at the moment.
Our bathroom is around 40 years old, the bath is chipped, and rusty and both the taps on the sink and the cold water tap on the bath don’t work, and the shower also doesn’t work. This means we only have the hot water tap on the bath which works but is very temperamental and unless positioned correctly the water is either scalding or freezing.
We also have a downstairs toilet in which the sink doesn’t work, it leaks underneath and the taps are damaged too. The kitchen tap also needs replacing as it’s badly corroding and stiff when trying to use it. It is very hard for my sons to use the bath in the state it causes a lot of stress in the household”
It is heart-breaking to find people in this day and age who need and deserve help but unfortunately, don’t receive any. This however is exactly why The Community Heating Project was set up. Our engineer here at RGM Heating Ltd visited to determine what needs done and prioritised our next steps. We then came back to replace the electric shower, re-siliconed the bath, and fixed/replaced the bathroom basin and taps. And we shall be returning to complete some other works that needs to be done.
None of this could have been possible without your generosity and donations. There are many more people out there that need our help.
The Community Heating Project is a fund where 100% of the money raised, goes towards helping local, vulnerable people with their heating and hot water. That could be fixing their broken boiler, replacing condemned boilers, or even ensuring that their heating is working as efficiently as possible which will result in reducing their carbon footprint and keeping their heating bills down. We will also help with the supply and installation of vital household items such as gas cookers, washing machines, and plumbing essentials including showers, toilets, and sinks.
All labour will be charged out by RGM at an agreed, transparent rate with no profit or markup added to this or any required materials. The fund will be through a Community Interest Company called The Community Heating Project C.I.C which has been set up and will be run by Graeme Robertson. Referrals will come through to RGM directly or from The Cottage Family Centre and we hope to get more charities on board to help with this.
Any help that we can get is greatly appreciated, from publicity to fundraising or donations, everything is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading this and for your support.
